The L'Esprit Rehabilitation Centres were developed to provide high quality patient care in the fields of orthopaedics and sports medicine. Each centre is staffed with physiotherapists who are -- or aspire to become -- leaders in the physiotherapy profession. Since its inception in 1986 l'Esprit has had very strong links to McGill University's School of Physical & Occupational Therapy, and to the hospitals within the McGill network of teaching facilities. The founders of l'Esprit, Mary-Ann Dalzell (BSc, MSc.) and Monica Kosiuk (BSc., MA) both graduated from McGill's School of Physical & Occupational Therapy, and have been an active part of the department's teaching faculty since the 1982 and 1990 respectively.

The following is a list of the major events in the history of the L'Esprit Rehabilitation Centres.

1986: Opened first location at 5545 St. Jacques St. West.

1990: Purchased an established 8000 sq. ft. clinic in TMR from a group of well-known orthopaedic specialists.

1993: TMR clinic moved to current location at 1140 Beaumont Ave.

1996: NDG clinic moved to current location at 5252 de Maisonneuve West, suite 100

Jan. 2000: Hosted the first international conference on Cancer Rehabilitation at Montreal's Renaissance Hotel du Parc entitled "Cancer Rehabilitation: The Multidisciplinary Integration of Traditional and Whole-Person Care." Attended by over 200 medical professionals, the input from speakers and participant helped lay the foundations for our groundbreaking Cancer Rehabilitation Services.

Thanks to the strong ties L'Esprit's team of professionals has built to the greater Montreal medical community, our centres will continue to set the standard for rehabilitation medicine in Quebec and across Canada.
