St. Clair Child & Youth Services Focus:

Mental Health Treatment Center

Mental Health Treatment Centers focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

What does St. Clair Child & Youth Services offer?

Outpatient (OP)

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Intervention Services

Intervention Services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict’s behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

Treatment Types:

Individualized Treatment

Certain drug and alcohol rehab centers have standard treatment regimes they expect all patients to follow. Others offer individualized treatment, meaning they tailor treatment to a person’s specific background and needs. For example, a rehab facility may adjust a treatment program to take into account the type of drug or addiction from which the person suffers, their age, medical condition(s), religious beliefs, or lifestyle.

Family Program

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Therapies Offered:

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

St. Clair Child & Youth Services Highlights:

The Clinical Services Division provides assessment and treatment services to children, youth and families who present with a wide range of children's mental health concerns. In order to accomplish this mandate, the division employs a multi-disciplinary staff of child and youth workers, social workers, psychometrist, as well as a consulting psychologist and psychiatrist.
Community Services offers a Parent/Infant Therapy Program, prevention programs for at-risk children populations, as well as brief family counselling adjunctive service. The underlying philosophy of Community Services is the belief that interventions should focus upon the developmental potential, rather than the handicaps, of children with special needs, and that the inclusion of children with special needs in regular settings is an important prerequisite for optimizing their emotional and cognitive growth.
The Family Support Division provides a range of programs as part of a strategic partnership with our local Children's Aid Society. All services are dedicated to improving the mental health well being and placement stability of children and youth. The services provided by the Family Support Division are provided in home and in the community.
St. Clair Child & Youth Services is a progressive Children's Mental Health Centre dedicated to helping children, youth and families with coping and adapting to life's challenges.
